what is hearing aid technology?

Hearing aid technology is improved by various researchers but basically, it made up of  3 basic parts such as microphone, processor, receiver and power source. The microphone gets sound from the environment and sends it to the processor. Processor enhances the signal and delivers it to the receiver which delivers the amplified signal to the ear canal. The power source or battery is used to run the hearing aid.

Analog hearing aid technology: Analog hearing collect the sound from microphone and convert sound into electrical energy. Amplifier increase the strength of electrical energy and receiver convert electrical energy into autistic sound.   Through automatic gain control (AGC) analog hearing aid does not over-amplify soft sounds.
Digital hearing aid technology: It is a complex device in which microphone picks up sound converted It into digital signals. Then digital signals are processed and analyzed by Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and it converted the signal into acoustic sound. DSP provides various features which improve hearing in difficult listening environments.

Features of hearing aid technology:

  • It has a number of frequency channels.
  • It has Directional Microphones
  • Digital Noise Reduction
  • Digital Feedback Reduction
  • Multiple Programs or Memories
  • Self Learning
  • Data Logging
  • Telephone Adaptation
  • Wireless and Bluetooth Connectivity
  • Remote Controls
  • Frequency Shifting
  • Sound Generators or Tinnitus Maskers
